What is printed circuit heat exchangers?

Printed Circuit Heat Exchangers (PCHEs) are characterised as high integrity plate type heat exchangers. They are fabricated from flat metal plates (sheets) that have fluid flow channels chemically etched into them using the same process as printed circuit hence the product name. The etched plates are stacked and diffusion bonded together to make the core of the heat exchanger(s). PCHEs can be made of one or several cores welded together to suit the duties required. Headers and nozzles are attached to the core(s) to complete the exchanger. PCHE are highly compact, highly robust exchangers and can achieve high thermal effectiveness of over 98% depending on the process: - PCHE are four to six times smaller than conventional shell and tube heat exchangers of the equivalent duty. - They have a pressure capability in excess of 600 bar (9000 psi) and can cope with extreme temperatures, ranging from cryogenic to above 900°C (1650°F). They are well established in the upstream hydrocarbon processing, petrochemical and refining industries. They can incorporate more than two process streams into a single unit. This design feature has space and weight advantages, reducing exchanger size together with piping and valve requirements. Additional functions can be included in the exchanger design, such as chemical reaction, mass transfer and mixing, optimising the process considerably. The association of chemical etching and diffusion bonding processes into a single product allow the use of a wide range of materials of construction enabling the use of a wide range of clean fluids in the heat exchanger, including corrosive ones.

Which non-ferrous metal is used extensively for water heating apparatus?

Copper is the non-ferrous metal that is extensively used for water heating apparatus due to its excellent thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, and ability to withstand high temperatures. It is commonly found in hot water pipes, boilers, and heat exchangers. Additionally, its antimicrobial properties make it a hygienic choice for plumbing applications.

Name the types of heat exchangers used as super-heaters?

The types of heat exchangers commonly used as super-heaters are shell-and-tube heat exchangers and plate heat exchangers. These heat exchangers are designed to efficiently transfer heat from the combustion gases to the steam in power plants, increasing the temperature and improving the efficiency of the system.

What is the different between plate heat exchangers and tube heat exchangers?

Plate heat exchangers use flat plates to transfer heat between two fluids, providing a large surface area for efficient heat transfer in a compact design. Tube heat exchangers utilize tubes to facilitate heat exchange between fluids, offering a more traditional and versatile approach to heat transfer applications. Plate heat exchangers are typically more efficient and cost-effective for certain applications compared to tube heat exchangers.

What is heat duty?

heat duty refers to the heat exchangers. heat duty of the heat exchangers is defined as the amount of heat transfered of 1kg of hot fluid to the 1 kg of cold fluid in one hour.

What is fouling factor this factor used in heat exchangers?

Fouling factor is essentially used in determining the efficiency of the heat exchangers. Fouling factor is obtained from service (product) on either side of tubes and material of tubes. It basically represents corrosion of heat exchangers tubes which affects efficiency of heat transfer.

Do heat exchangers cause a fire hazard in apartment buildings?

Heat exchangers can be used in many things like space heaters, refrigeration and air conditioning. Heat exchangers by themselves are likely not a significant fire hazard. Space heaters can create a threat of fire if not watched and used properly.

What does Exergy LLC manufacture?

The company Exergy LLC manufactures heat exchangers. Heat exchangers are items such as parts for boilers, engines and furnaces. Some of their products are used by Shell.

Does a 72' bug have heat?

You need to have working heat exchangers and proper heat ducting from the heat exchangers to the back of the car. It blows from under the back seat cushion. Mid America Motorworks makes a heating kit to add aditional heat to the car.
