No. "Organic" in chemistry terms means "contains carbon". Metals do not contain carbon (well, certain kinds of steel do, but I don't think anyone considers them organic).

---------------------------------------------

More precisely, organic compounds build upon a carbon-hydrogen backbone with various substituents such as oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen, phosphorus, etc., even some metals though they are only present in trace amounts compared to the non-metal elements present.

Yes, metals are chemical elements located on the Periodic Table. They are characterized by their ability to conduct electricity and heat and have a shiny appearance. Examples of metals include iron, gold, and copper.

All substances are "chemicals"; they are made up of combinations of atoms from different chemical elements. (An element is a chemical with only one kind of atom in it).

Many common metals are elements (Gold, Tin, Aluminium) and most others are combinations of simpler metals (e.g. Brass = Copper and Zinc).

People mis-use the word "chemicals" to mean industrial substances, but every substance is a chemical; an apple is made of atoms of chemical elements and molecules of chemical compounds that are far more complex than some commercial chemical products.

How do you separate metals?

Metals can be separated based on their physical and chemical properties. Techniques such as filtration, distillation, electrolysis, and precipitation are commonly used to separate metals from mixtures. Recycling processes also play a key role in separating and extracting metals from electronic waste or scrap materials.

Why are gold and platinum found as pure metals?

Gold and platinum are found as pure metals because they are very unreactive and resistant to corrosion. This allows them to exist in nature in a relatively pure form without reacting with other elements. Additionally, their chemical properties make them highly resistant to oxidation and weathering, further contributing to their presence as pure metals.

Do metals have to be stored in sealed containers?

Yes, metals do not necessarily have to be stored in sealed containers. However, it is recommended to store certain reactive metals like lithium or sodium in sealed containers to prevent them from reacting with moisture or air. In general, proper storage conditions depend on the specific properties of the metal.
