Covalent compounds and molecular compounds are the same thing if I recalled correctly, just different terms of calling it. And covalent bonds are the bonds formed by the sharing of electrons between two atoms, and they are the strong forces of attraction WITHIN the molecule.

Please do not get it mixed up with the weak van der Waals' forces that is found BETWEEN molecules and is caused by a temporary shift of electrons to one side of the molecule, resulting in a slightly positive/negative end.

Two nonmetallic atoms react and a compound is formed The compound has what type of bonding?

The compound likely has covalent bonding. In covalent bonding, nonmetallic atoms share electrons to achieve a full outer electron shell, forming a stable compound. This type of bonding typically occurs between atoms of similar electronegativity.

Is NI3 covalent compound?

No, NI3 is not a covalent compound. It is a binary ionic compound formed between the metal nickel (Ni) and the nonmetal iodine (I) through ionic bonding.

Is CO an ionic or covalent compound?

CO is a covalent compound. Carbon monoxide consists of a shared pair of electrons between carbon and oxygen atoms, which is characteristic of covalent bonding.

Is water a covalent compound?

Yes, water is a covalent compound. It consists of two hydrogen atoms bonding with one oxygen atom through shared pairs of electrons. This sharing of electrons between the atoms is what characterizes covalent bonding.

Does ozone have an ionic compound or covalent compound?

Ozone has covalent bonding. It is an allotrope of Oxygen.

Is covalent the bonding of sodium azide?

No, covalent bonding is not the bonding of sodium azide. Sodium azide is an ionic compound, formed by the transfer of electrons between sodium and azide ions. Covalent bonding involves the sharing of electrons between atoms.

Is caffeine the result of ionic bonding or covalent bonding?

Caffeine is a covalent compound. It is composed of carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen atoms that form covalent bonds by sharing electrons.

Is CH3OH ionic bonding?

No CH3OH is a covalent compound becauseAn Ionic bond is formed between metals and nonmetalAs there are no metals in this compound so it cant be an ionic bond

Being two non metals, phosphorous and chlorine form covalent bonds.

Is nh3 a ionic or covalent compound?

NH3 is eventually covalent because they are sharing electrons.

Is Ammonia a covalent or ionic bonding compound?

Ammonia forms a covalent bond between the nitrogen atom and each of the three hydrogen atoms. Covalent bonds involve the sharing of electrons between atoms, which creates a stable molecular structure.

How do you find out if a compound is ionic or covalent?

If a compound is made from a metal and a non-metal, its bonding will be ionic. If a compound is made from two non-metals, its bonding will be covalent. Compounds containing two elements (so called binary compounds) can either have ionic or covalent bonding.
