If you suspect that the testing instrument is malfunctioning, contact the manufacturer to confirm the malfunction and follow their instructions to bring the instrument back to its intended veracity.
If the instrument that you're using to test a diamond doesn't give you the result you want, you can use another instrument to test the diamond.
You can also take the 'two out of three' approach, and use three different testers to confirm the substance being tested.
Jewelers use a combination of methods to determine if a diamond is real. They typically examine the diamond under specialized lighting conditions to check for certain physical properties such as light reflection and refraction. They may also use magnification tools to examine the diamond for inclusions or other identifying characteristics. Additionally, some jewelers may use electronic diamond testers that measure thermal conductivity to quickly confirm the authenticity of a diamond.
Diamonds are typically tested using a combination of methods, including assessing their weight, color, clarity, and cut. Gemologists may also use tools like a loupe, microscope, and various testing equipment to confirm a diamond's authenticity and quality. Additionally, specialized tests such as thermal conductivity and UV fluorescence may be used to further evaluate a diamond.
The field test for a raw diamond is 'extreme hardness'. Otherwise, pick up the stone and take it to a jeweler, who may be able to confirm that you have picked up a diamond and not another clear mineral.
Yes, a lab-created diamond will test as a diamond because it has the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as a natural diamond. Standard diamond testers measure thermal and electrical conductivity, which are identical in both. Only specialized lab equipment, such as spectroscopy or advanced gemological tools, can differentiate between lab-grown and natural diamonds.
The best way to identify a diamond is to use a diamond tester. It is a handheld device which sends a thermal beam (heat) inside the stone and reads how fast the stone conducts the heat. Each mineral has a different heat conductive coefficient so this way you can tell a diamond from other stones. However, a moissanite (a withe stone grown in the lab) has the same response as a diamond so a diamond tester may confirm the moissanite as a diamond. Recently, a moissanite tester has been developed , so it can differentiate a diamond from a moissanite. Also a moissanite turns deep yellow when heated with a torch then turns back to white when cools down. Also, it is possible that a trained eye can see a greenish color it the moissanite.
Diamond testers, which are used to determine genuine diamonds, can be bought through Amazon as well as many stores that sell fine jewelry and related products.
Yes they actually have the eye scopes too to tell if its real or fake
Software Testers
Yes, very handy devices called diamond testers quickly determine whether a diamond is genuine based on thermal conductivity.
Tone generators and amplifier probes, Continuity testers, wire-map testers, and cable-certification testers.
Sample resume for testers
There are many products offered by Amiprobe. These include clamp meters, electrical testers, environment testers, HVAC testers, multimeters and wire tracers.
The only real way to tell if a diamond is real is to let someone look at it that knows what they are looking at. They can tell you if it is a genuine diamond and tell you what quality it is. There are tons of imitations. There are diamond testers that pretty well for about $100.00 also. If the ring is inexpensive and the diamond looks clear not yellow with no visible imperfections, clouds, or black dots; then that sounds too good to be true. I'll attach a little more info about diamond quality as a resource.

A black light cannot test if a diamond is real or fake. Instead, professionals use instruments like a loupe, microscope, or thermal conductivity testers to assess a diamond's authenticity. The black light test is typically used for detecting fluorescence in some gemstones but does not accurately determine the authenticity of a diamond.
There are several companies that employ video game testers. Some of the companies do offer insurance for the testers since they are full time employees.
