Yes. Too much sodium for just one day can dehydrate you. Water follows salt, if you drink too much salt though and not enough water, you can quickly dehydrate yourself. That's why the old sailors always say, "Don't drink the saltwater" it'll kill you. Over an extended period of time too much sodium intake can lead to hypertension. Hypertension is high blood pressure. If you're heart is forced to endure under these conditions for too long, one side of your heart will grow stronger, too strong for the rest of your heart to keep up with. This can lead to heart failure, and lifelong complications.
