Dedfinatly not. This could easily scratch the hamster and certainly won't be comfortable. the best type of bedding is torn up j-cloth and can be bought in packets from a pet store or a garden centre.
Wood shavings are the best to use but you can use shredded paper, but not newspaper because the ink on it can be toxic to the hamster.
