Objective:To study the following properties of acetic acid (ethanoic acid):
Acetic acid is an organic acid with the formula CH3-COOH. Its functional group is carboxylic acid group.
Acetic acid is a monocarboxylic acid because it contains only one â€"COOH group. It has a sour taste and pungent smell. It is the main component of vinegar. Vinegar is typically 3-7% solution of acetic acid in water. Vinegar is mainly used as a preservative in food and in the pickling of vegetables. Water free acetic acid is known as glacial acetic acid.
What are the properties of acetic acid?
Acetic acid reacts with sodium bicarbonate to produce carbon dioxide.
On passing CO2 gas through lime water, the lime water turns milky. The milky appearance of lime water is due to the formation of solid calcium carbonate (CaCO3).
Common uses of acetic acid:
alkaline KMNO4 will decolourise in ethanol but not in ethanoic acid
its quite an easy question. the answer is very simple.......chemical properties of ethanoic acid:-gives effervescence of CO2 with NaHCO3.it belongs to the category of weak acid called the carboxylic acid.chemical properties of ethanol:-doesnt give any effervescence of CO2.it belongs to the category of alcoholphysical properties of ethanoic acid:-its melting point is 290 K, so it often freezes in winters at cold climate.so, pure acetic acid is called glacial acetic acid.physical properties of ethanol:-it doesnt freezes in the winters.may be more but this is all the important ones...:)hope i helped u....
physical property happens by itself or from things in nature. chemical property happens by outside.
Chemical changes alter the chemical makeup of a substance... physical changes only change the way something looks, it does not modify the chemical properties.
Oxalic acid is dicarboxylic acid while ethanoic acid is monocarboxylic acid.

The chemical properties of calcium are most similar to (in between) the chemical properties of magnesium and strontium.

The chemical properties of an object show what a chemical change did to that substance.
The chemical properties of an object show what a chemical change did to that substance.
yes
Physical properties use your senses and chemical properties are when you mix two chemicals together.
A chemical change is when the chemical properties of a substance changes and a physical change is when the chemical properties stay the same but the physical properties (shape, temperature etc...)
Any link between the breaking of a mirror and the chemical properties of a product.
These are the chemical properties.
*isomorphic have different chemical and physical properties and poly morphous have same chemical and physical properties
