To make gack without borax, you can try using a mixture of cornstarch and water in a 2:1 ratio. Simply combine the two ingredients in a bowl and mix until you reach the desired consistency. You can add food coloring or glitter for extra fun.
To raise pH using borax, you can add 1 tablespoon of borax per 10,000 gallons of water to increase pH by approximately 0.3 units. It's important to gradually add small amounts of borax and test the pH frequently to avoid overshooting your target pH level.
To make liquid borax, you can dissolve borax powder in hot water. Mix until the powder is fully dissolved and the solution becomes clear. Allow the solution to cool before using it.
You can add 5-10 pounds of borax for every 10,000 gallons of water in your pool. For a 30,000 gallon pool, you would need to add 15-30 pounds of borax to adjust the pH and alkalinity levels. Be sure to test the water after adding borax to ensure the levels are within the recommended range.
If you add less borax to silly putty, the final mixture may not achieve the desired consistency or texture. The borax acts as a crosslinking agent that helps the glue molecules bind together to create the characteristic stretchy and moldable properties of silly putty. Too little borax may result in a weaker or less cohesive putty.

Ingredients: large container 1 cup of water white glue 2 tsp. borax In the container mix the water and borax. Then add the glue. The more glue you add the bigger the glob will be. Stir well. After a minute pick up glob and mush in your hand mixing in any pockets of glue left. If you roll it in a ball you can bounce it on the floor but don't try to bounce it on the carpet, it picks up a lot of lint.
