calcium oxide can burn you as in contact with water in the eyes can make you blind as it reacts with the water and eventually boiling the water do not eat it as it will react with the water in your mouth and burn you it was used in greek fire as soilders would try to put it out with water the calcium oxide would boil of the water while causing fire and chemical burns

Calcium Oxide is also called Quicklime(when water is added, it heats up and bubbles like it is boiling make it seem alive.)It is also called unslaked Lime.

It is very dangerous to use, as it will react with any water, even the slightest amount of perspiration and moisture on your skin, and burn you severely. The steam given out of it is not toxic, but it is very hot and can scald and burn.
