The formula for limestone is CaCO3 and hydrocloric acid is HCL. Therefore they undergo a acid + metalcarbonate reaction.

acid + metal carbonate -> salt +water + carbon di oxide.

So when limestone reacts with HCl it prodcues salt (CaCl2) , water (H2O) and carbon di oxide (CO2(bubbles)). thus limestone reacts with HCl

Do all rocks react with hydrochloric acid?

No, not all rocks react with hydrochloric acid. Rocks that contain calcium carbonate, such as limestone and marble, will react with hydrochloric acid by producing carbon dioxide gas. However, rocks that do not contain calcium carbonate will not have a reaction with hydrochloric acid.

Which sedimentary rock would react with hydrochloric acid?

Limestone for sure, dolomite mildly.

Rocks that react with hydocloric acid?

Limestone, dolomite, and marble are rocks that react with hydrochloric acid by bubbling and fizzing due to the release of carbon dioxide gas. This reaction occurs because these rocks contain calcium carbonate, which is soluble in acids like hydrochloric acid.

What is the word equation for the reaction of dilute hydrochloric acid and limestone?

The word equation for the reaction of dilute hydrochloric acid and limestone is: hydrochloric acid + calcium carbonate (limestone) -> calcium chloride + carbon dioxide + water.

Does germanium react with hydrochloric acid?

Germanium does not react with hydrochloric acid at room temperature. However, it can react with hydrochloric acid when heated, forming germanium chloride.

How gold react with hydrochloric acid?

Gold react with aqua regia not with hydrochloric acid.

What chemical test can be made to identify limestone?

One common chemical test to identify limestone is the acid test. Limestone will react with hydrochloric acid to produce bubbles of carbon dioxide gas. Another test involves applying a drop of dilute hydrochloric acid to the surface of the rock; if it fizzes, then it likely contains calcium carbonate, the main component of limestone.

Can hydrochloric acid react with carbolic acid?

No,Hydrochloric acid contains water while carbolic acid does not so they do not mix with each other and do not react.

What is balanced equation of sulfur and Hydrochloric acid?

Sulfur does not react with hydrochloric acid.

Why doesn't copper react with hydrochloric acid?

Copper does not react with hydrochloric acid because it is a less reactive metal and does not displace hydrogen from the acid.

What metal does not react with dilute hydrochloric acid?

Gold is a metal that does not react with dilute hydrochloric acid.

Is limestone suitable for outdoor paving?

Limestone looks beautiful, but you also have to remember that limestone erodes quickly. Limestone contains minerals such as calcite and dolomite, these minerals react to many acids e.g hydrochloric acid, acids found in juice.
