Do you mean, "Is ...?"
No. Sulfur (or sulphur on my side of the Atlantic) is not an acid but it is the basic element in sulphuric acid.
When sulfuric acid is heated, it decomposes into sulfur trioxide and water vapor. Sulfur trioxide then reacts with water in the air to form sulfuric acid and sulfur dioxide.
The balanced equation for the reaction of sulfur (S) and hydrochloric acid (HCl) is: S + 2HCl -> H2S + Cl2. In this reaction, sulfur reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce hydrogen sulfide gas and elemental chlorine.
Sulfur dioxide is formed by the combustion of sulfur. One of the principal ways of leakage of sulfur dioxide to air is through the sulfuric acid industry. Another way is the burning of material which are made out of vulcanized rubber that contains sulfur.
Sulfur dioxide dissolves in water to form sulfurous acid (H2SO3).
There are three elements in sulfuric acid. hydrogen, oxygen, and sulfur.
Sulfuric Acid is an oxoacid of sulfur and is made of Hydrogen, Sulfur and Oxygen. It is produced by burning sulfur in air to produce Sulfur Dioxide, and then oxidizing the Sulfur Dioxide to Sulfur Trioxide. Sulfuric Acid can then be made from Sulfur Trioxide.
Sulfur does not react with hydrochloric acid.
Sulfur dioxide is an acidic gas that can dissolve in water to form sulfurous acid, which is a weak acid. Therefore, sulfur dioxide is classified as an acid.

Burning sulfur in air sulfur dioxide is formed; this gas dissolved in water form an acidic solution.
Sulfur (S) reacts to form sulphuric acid (H2SO4) which isan acid.
They both contain the element Sulfur
I think you can extract sulfur from pyrite with a medium powerful acid. After, put acid in water. If you see yellow deposits, it's sulfur.
