Actually, I know only of one triatomic element: Ozone O3 but there are a lot of triatomic compounds: to start simple H2O, CO2, SO2, NaClO*)

Another answer:

Ozone is a good example for an triatomic molecule made up from one element, oxygen. Some other such molecules include water, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide etc.

However ionic compounds like*), should be excluded as they actually represent an empirical formula.

What is difference between an atom and a monoatomic molecule?

Diatomic molecule is a molecule that is made up of only 2 atoms. Triatomic molecule is a molecule that is made up of only 3 atoms. Thus, the difference is that a diatomic molecule is made up of only 2 atoms while a triatomic molecule is made up of only 3 atoms.
