Henry Moseley did a series of experiments looking at the x-ray spectra of various elements. He found that the frequencies of equivalent bands made a very simple progression that more or less corresponded to atomic weight order. The exceptions were exactly the same as the ones where Mendeleev's scheme was having difficulties. He thus arrived at a definition of atomic number, and proposed a revised periodic law where the ordering of elements was according to atomic number rather than atomic weight.

How did Henry mosely rearrange the periodic table and why?

Before Henry Moseley, the periodic table was arranged in order of increasing atomic mass. However, this arrangement did not allow all the elements to be placed into groups of similar chemical properties. Moseley rearranged the periodic periodic in order of increasing atomic number which did have all the elements in their correct groups.

What did Henry Moseley change about the periodic table?

Henry Moseley reorganized the periodic table based on atomic number instead of atomic mass, thereby providing a more accurate and clear arrangement of elements. This reorganization helped to explain the discrepancies and predict properties of certain elements that were not well-understood before.

Who revised the periodic table?

The Periodic Table of Elements was modified by the English scientist Henry Moseley in the year 1913. Moseley assessed the atomic number of the elements individually and organized the atoms according to increasing atomic number.

What were Henry morsely's efforts to the periodic table?

Henry Moseley contributed to the periodic table by arranging elements based on atomic number rather than atomic mass, establishing the modern periodic law. His work led to a more accurate arrangement of elements and a better understanding of their properties. Moseley's discovery helped fill gaps in the periodic table and laid the foundation for the modern understanding of the structure of atoms.

What was henry moseley contribution to the periodic table?

In 1912, Henry Moseley, an English physicist showed that periodicity was a fucntion of the atomic number rather than of atomic mass. Our present periodic tables are now constructed using atomic number as the basis of arranging the elements and the periodic law being stated as, the physical and chemical properties of the element are periodic functions of their atomic numbers. This periodic recurrence of properties is emphasized by arranging the elements in a table such that elements with similar properties are aligned in a vertical column. This arrangement is called the Periodic Table.

Who initially arranged the periodic table?

Periodic table was initially arranged by Mendeleev. It was rearranged by Moseley.

Moseley's periodic table?

Moseley's periodic table was developed by English physicist Henry Moseley in 1913. He rearranged the elements on the periodic table based on their atomic number rather than atomic mass, which led to the modern form of the periodic table. Moseley's work provided a clearer understanding of the organization of elements and their properties.

What is the correct chronological order of scientists contributing to the modern periodic table?

Dmitri Mendeleev was the first to develop the modern periodic table in 1869. Later, Henry Moseley rearranged the elements by atomic number, which is the modern arrangement. So, Mendeleev comes before Moseley in terms of their contributions to the modern periodic table.

Who showed that periodicity depended upon atomic number?

Henry Moseley showed that periodicity depended upon atomic number. He rearranged the periodic table based on atomic number rather than atomic mass, providing a more accurate representation of the periodic trends.

Who redesigned the periodic table to put elements in order by atomic number?

No,its not Dmitri Mendeleev.Dmitri Mendeleev create the first periodic table but mostly it was wrong....he arranged them by the atomic number when it should have been by increasing the atomic number(and ya there's a difference)..the one that rearranged it was Henry Moseley.

Who rearrange the periodic table by atomic number into the table you recognize today?

Henry Moseley

Henry moseley

Contribution of Henry Mosley in periodic table of elements?

Henry Moseley's contribution to the periodic table was crucial as he rearranged the elements based on their atomic numbers rather than atomic weights. This led to the modern layout of the periodic table that we use today, where elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number. Moseley's work provided a more accurate way to organize elements and helped to further our understanding of the properties of different elements.

Who said the periodic table depended upon atomic number?

Henry Moseley
