This really works: Some handy people suggest mixing a cup of hydrogen peroxide with a tablespoon of baking soda and a squirt of dish detergent for a quick odor remover. If you have a degreaser, us this with warm water first. Gas has a grease or oil base. Wash then twice with degreaser. You can use Dawn if you do not have this. Then rub baby oil into them. This works also if you get them on clothes. You add a cap of oil to a warm wash, INDIRECTLY and with detergent such as Tide. After washing the baby oil off, rub them in Lemon Juice. This should take any other residue off. Dry with a Paper towel so not to contaminate a wash clothe. Never place an article or clothing in a hamper if you spill gas on it. It will make all of the clothes smell like gas.
