You can dissolve zinc oxide in a small amount of heatedoil. I always use olive oil. If the oil is not heated the zinc oxide will not emulsify and it will kind of roll up back into itself when you apply the mixture. Heat the oil first then add zinc oxide powder and stir with clean utensils.
P.S. Olive oil has a pore-clogging ability of 2 out of 5, and an irritant probability of 0 out of 5.
Mineral oil is 0 for clogging and 0 for irritant, but I haven't used this method yet.
The solubility of zinc oxide in water is very low, with only a small amount of zinc oxide able to dissolve in water.
The solubility of zinc oxide varies in different solvents. It is generally insoluble in water but can dissolve in acidic or basic solutions. In organic solvents, such as ethanol or acetone, zinc oxide is also insoluble.
To find the purity of zinc oxide by titration method, you can first dissolve the zinc oxide in an acid solution to form a soluble zinc salt. Then, titrate the solution with a standardized solution of a known concentration, such as an acid or base, until a color change indicating the end point is reached. By knowing the volume and concentration of the titrant used, you can calculate the purity of the zinc oxide based on the stoichiometry of the reaction.
Is it harmful to dogs to use zinc oxide or desitin on dog's skin irritations because they might lick it? It helped heal a wound after other things didn't help but I'm concerned because I saw him licking it.
Zinc oxide reacts with metallic magnesium to produce magnesium oxide and metallic zinc.

In a 5g suppository with 5% zinc oxide, the amount of zinc oxide present is 5% of 5g, which is 0.25g (or 250mg) of zinc oxide.

That would be zinc oxide.

Yes, zinc oxide is generally safe for dogs when used in appropriate amounts and forms, such as in pet-safe sunscreens or topical ointments. However, ingestion of large amounts of zinc oxide can be toxic to dogs, so it's important to keep products containing zinc oxide out of their reach.

To make zinc nitrate from zinc oxide, you would first need to react zinc oxide with nitric acid. This reaction will produce zinc nitrate and water. The chemical equation for this reaction is ZnO + 2HNO3 → Zn(NO3)2 + H2O.
Zinc oxide is generally safe to consume in small amounts, such as in certain supplements or as an ingredient in some foods. However, consuming large amounts of zinc oxide can be harmful and may cause adverse effects. It is important to follow recommended dosages and consult with a healthcare provider before taking zinc oxide supplements.
Zinc oxide can be obtained by heating zinc nitrate.
Zinc is a metal and Oxygen is a non-metal.
