To find the total charge of an atomic nucleus you first have to know how many protons are in the nucleus. The only way to find this is from a Periodic Table. On the table find the symbol for your atom then look for the Atomic Number(number of protons). This is usually a boldface number. For example H has atomic number 1; He has atomic number 2, C has atomic number 6 etc. Once you find the number of protons you multiply that times the charge on each proton to get the final answer. The charge on a proton is 1.6 x 10^-19 coulombs. A second, indirect way to get the answer is if you know how many electrons would normally surround the nucleus. Since this number is the same as the number of protons you can then proceed as above.

What is found in nucleus zero charge?

Nucleus of an atom contains positively charged protons and neutral charge neutrons. It does not contain any electrons, as electrons are found in the electron cloud outside the nucleus.

Does an atoms nucleus have a positive or negative charge?

it cant have any charge at all. atoms have an equal amount of protons and neutron therefore the give off no charge. if they did give off a charge they would no longer be atoms they would be ions

What is the electrical charge of nucleus of an atom?

The nucleus of an atom is composed of positively charged protons and uncharged neutrons. Therefore the nucleus is positively charged, and is equivalent to its atomic number found in the periodic table of the elements. For example, Hydrogen is +1, Oxygen +15. The total charge of the entire atom depends on both the number of protons and the number of electrons, which occur outside the nucleus.

What particle in a atom has no charge?

Neutrons, which are found in the nucleus of an atom, have a neutral charge which is neither positive or negative.Protons, also found in the nucleus, have a positive charge and electrons, found orbiting the nucleus in the electron clouds, have a negative charge. A neutrally charged atom has neither a positive charge or a negative charge. An easy way to remember this is:Protons PositiveElectronsNeutrons NeutralTry not to get neutrons mixed up with protons because it starts with an "N".

What is a unionized particle of an element?

A unionized particle of an element refers to an atom that has not gained or lost any electrons, thus maintaining a neutral charge. This means the number of protons in the nucleus is equal to the number of electrons orbiting the nucleus.

What charge does the nucleus of an atom hold?

The nucleus of an atom carries a positive charge. This positive charge is due to the presence of protons in the nucleus. Electrons, which are negatively charged, orbit around the nucleus to balance out the overall charge of the atom.

What is the particle in the nucleus of the atom with no electrical charge?

Neuton does not have any charge

In every atom are the electrons surrounded by a positively charged nucleus?

Yes, in an atom, electrons are negatively charged particles that orbit around a positively charged nucleus composed of protons and neutrons. The nucleus is held together by strong nuclear forces, while the electrons are attracted to the nucleus by electromagnetic forces.

What describes the charge of an atom before any electrons are transferred?

The charge of an atom before any electrons are transferred is neutral. This means the number of protons in the nucleus is equal to the number of electrons surrounding the nucleus, resulting in a balanced charge.

Where are protons found in an atom that do not have any charge called?

All protons have positive charge and are always found in the nucleus of an atom. There are no protons without any charge.

What does the nucleas of the atom contain?

The nucleus contains protons (which carry a positive charge) and neutrons (which do not carry any charge)

Is the nucleus made of protons and neutrons that have a positive charge?

The nucleus of an atom is composed of protons and neutrons, but only the protons carry a positive charge. The neutrons do not carry any charge.

What part of the atom doesnt have an electric charge?

The neutron is the subatomic particle in the atom that does not have an electric charge. It is located in the nucleus along with the positively charged protons, and its role is to help stabilize the nucleus by adding mass without adding extra charge.

What is found in nucleus zero charge?

Nucleus of an atom contains positively charged protons and neutral charge neutrons. It does not contain any electrons, as electrons are found in the electron cloud outside the nucleus.

Does the nucleus of an atom have a positive electric charge?

Yes it has a positive charge. A nucleus is made up of protons that have a positive charge and neutrons which have no charge so are are neutral. So, overall, the nucleus is the positively charged part of an atom and its positive charge is neutralized by the negatively charged electrons which revolve around the nucleus.

Where are the elections protonsand neutrons located in an atom?

The location of subatomic particles within the atom are as follows: electrons are outside the nucleus and are found in different energy levels, or distances away from the nucleus. They carry a negative charge. Protons are found inside the nucleus, and carry a positive charge. Neutrons are also found inside the nucleus but do not carry any charge.

The overall charge of the nucleus is?

The overall charge of a nucleus is positive. The nucleus is consisted of protons and neutrons. Protons have a positive charge and neutrons have a neutral charge. Electrons have a negative charge but are located in the shell orbiting the nucleus, so their charge is not included in the nucleus' charge. Since the only particles in the nucleus either have a positive or neutral charge, the nucleus will always be positive.
