I used chlorine bleach on white clothes that were supposed to be washed with non-chlorine bleach. They turned yellow. How do you make them white again?

Try using oxy clean powder this may work. I tried oycy clean and it did not work. I used "YELLOW OUT" It is a powder that comes in a plastic 1 lb. 2 oz. container. Most likely I bought it at WalMart, not sure. It worked on a cotton-polyester top that I bleached by mistake, which then turned it a tannish/yellow. I followed the directions on the back of the YELLOW OUT container; soak in a gallon of water with 1/2 cup of YELLOW OUT for 20 minutes and then wash with detergent not containing any peroxide or bleach (use color safe detergent) The top came out bright white!

Why does white clothes turn yellow in the wash?

White clothes can turn yellow in the wash due to several reasons, such as exposure to body oils, sweat, and other residues that accumulate on the fabric. Additionally, using too much detergent or washing in water that's too hot can also lead to yellowing. Moreover, natural aging of the fabric over time can cause white clothes to yellow.

Why do you dip white clothes in blue after the wash?

Bluing is a very mild dye that cancels out the slight yellow tinge in white clothes caused by the detergent. It makes clothes look "whiter than white". Today's laundry detergents contain chemicals that do the same thing as bluing, except that the clothes washed in it look even more white under sunlit conditions. Bluing. What color are all of miss havisham's clothes?

Miss Havisham wears the same, YELLOW wedding dress for her whole life after she was left at the altar. The dress used to be white, but after the years of not being able to let go of getting left at the altar by her fiance Compeyson, it used to be a beautiful, pristine white but has turned an ugly, decaying, yellow. This symbolizes what happened to her heart and trust after the tribulation.

Why are the white clothes dipped in blue after the wash?

Dipping white clothes in a blue dye solution after wash, often referred to as bluing, is traditionally done to counteract yellowing or dinginess that may occur in white fabrics over time.
