i have an expensive light blue sweater and left the top off a black permanent marker on my desk. i got a black spot on my sleeve about the size of a quarter. i thought i'd ruined my new sweater :-(
i bought some goo gone and worked on the spot for a long time, but it wouldn't budge. i finally tried putting some white folded paper towelling under the spot, and sprayed the ink with hair spray. i pressed another folded piece of paper towel directly on the spot. i kept spraying and blotting. it took quite a while, but eventually the whole spot was removed, and the color of my sweater didn't fade at all.
definitely try hair spray first. Wow it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -34dolphin2
Hairspray can help remove permanent marker from clothes because it contains alcohol, which can break down the marker's pigments and help lift them from the fabric. The alcohol in hairspray acts as a solvent, dissolving the marker ink and making it easier to blot or wash away from the fabric.
Yes BUT it depends on the material

To remove permanent marker ink from a whiteboard, try using a whiteboard marker to trace over the permanent marker ink, then erase both marks at the same time. You can also use rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover on a cloth to wipe off the permanent marker ink.
Well, one theory is that the chemicals contained in the whiteboard marker somehow reacts to the permanent marker, making it rub off, but it is not an excellent way to clean off permanent marker.
Dial remove permanent marker because it could remove things that would come off a little bit
