liquid nitrogen is very cold and vaporises in the air.

keep in a sealed container to avoid loss of mass.

it will crack rubber and some plastics, it will also freeze (and kill) skin

i use leather gloves and a metal container with a long handle (or tongs)

liquid nitrogen should not be inhaled and is generaly unsafe, pls research

Is it safe to drink liquid nitrogen?

No, it is not safe to drink liquid nitrogen. Consuming liquid nitrogen can cause serious internal injuries and frostbite because of its extremely low temperature. It is important to handle and consume liquid nitrogen with proper safety precautions.

Can a water gun shoot liquid nitrogen?

No, a water gun is not designed to handle or shoot liquid nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen is extremely cold and can cause serious injury if not handled properly. It is not safe to try to shoot liquid nitrogen from a water gun.

Can liquid nitrogen be contaminated?

Yes, liquid nitrogen can become contaminated if it comes into contact with substances or materials that are not meant to be frozen or stored in liquid nitrogen. Contamination can affect the purity and properties of the liquid nitrogen, so it is important to handle and store it properly to prevent contamination.

What will happen if you will add hot water to liquid nitrogen?

It depends on how much water, how hot it is, and how much liquid nitrogen there is. The water will initially cause the liquid nitrogen to boil; if there's enough water and it's hot enough, it may make the nitrogen boil explosively. However, if there's enough nitrogen, it will eventually freeze the water.

What will be the state of liquid nitrogen after boiling?

when the liquid nitrogen is boiled then it will turn into nitrogen gas.

Can liquid nitrogen kill you?

Yes, inhaling or consuming liquid nitrogen can be fatal. The extreme cold temperature of liquid nitrogen can cause severe frostbite and damage to tissue upon contact, which can be life-threatening. It is important to handle liquid nitrogen with caution and follow proper safety protocols.

What safety precautions should be taken when inhaling liquid nitrogen?

When inhaling liquid nitrogen, it is important to wear proper protective gear such as gloves and goggles to prevent skin and eye contact. Additionally, ensure good ventilation in the area to prevent buildup of nitrogen gas. Avoid inhaling the gas directly and do not store or handle liquid nitrogen in confined spaces.

What phase is liquid nitrogen in at room temperature?

Liquid nitrogen is liquid.

Can liquid nitrogen evaporate from a sealed container?

Yes, liquid nitrogen can evaporate from a sealed container due to its low boiling point of -196°C. The pressure will increase in the container as the liquid nitrogen evaporates, eventually leading to a rupture or explosion if the container is not designed to handle the buildup of pressure.

How do you separate nitrogen gas from a mixture of nitrogen gas and liquid nitrogen?

You can separate nitrogen gas from liquid nitrogen by allowing the liquid nitrogen to evaporate at room temperature or by heating it to increase the rate of evaporation. The nitrogen gas will separate from the liquid nitrogen as it evaporates, leaving behind the liquid nitrogen.

Why is it an advantage to transport nitrogen as a liquid rather than as a compressed gas?

The key to storing nitrogen as a liquid is that we need to compress and cool the nitrogen to cause it to change state from a gas to a liquid. By doing this, we can store a lot of nitrogen in a small volume compared to trying to store it as a gas.

What is colder - liquid nitrogen or liquid heluim?

Liquid helium is a lot colder than liquid nitrogen.
