Drain cleaner is usually caustic soda - sodium hydroxide - not acid. Neither should attack the steel to any appreciable extent. Normally any discoloured mark would be rust (iron oxide/hydroxide), and very shallow, so would come off with any mild abrasive and some elbow-grease.
