serum containing media such as LJ medium are disinfected by autoclave, inspissator.
The energy needed to melt a substance is given by its heat of fusion. For L's, this value is typically around 334 J/g. So, to melt 25.4 grams of L's, you would need 25.4 grams x 334 J/g ≈ 8476 J of energy.
You can sterilize the ground if you have diseased soil, but only for that reason. If you sterilize the soil you kill the bacteria that is needed for most root systems to develop a healthy plant. Bleach will not sterilize soil as it is nuetralized by organic material.
This is more a trick. Those letters can also be said as H to O, i.e. H 2 O, i.e. Water, H2O
it's a simple glas bottle. You put your medium inside it...and you can growth your bacteria in these kind of bottle... It's not something really special... the advantage is that you can sterilize these bottle with a medium inside so it's easy to use...
water (s) = ice =2.03 J/gC water (l) = liquid water = 4.186 J/gC water (g) = vapor or steam = 1.01 J/gC
Dear Friend You can autoclave this medium but be carefull about volume of media because in time of heating it overflows. I make about 300 cc medium in a 1L erlenmeyer.
