Both compounds and homogeneous mixtures are made of more than one element and are homogeneous. However, compounds must be made from elements in an exact ratio and involve chemical bonds between the elements in them.

Basically, they both are made from two or more substances. A compound is a substance formed when two or more chemical elements are chemically bonded together. A mixture contains two or more substances that are not chemically combined.

How is a compound similar to a homogeneous mixture How is it different?

How are compounds and homogeneous mixtures similar?

A compound is similar to a homogeneous mixture in that the proportions of the atoms throughout the compound/mixture are always fixed and do not vary. For example, a sample of pure C02 gas is a compound and will always have two parts oxygen to every carbon atom. Likewise, a homogeneous mixture of salt water will always have a fixed proportion of salt ions to water. (However, a heterogeneous mixture, such as muddy water would not always have a fixed proportion of mud to water since the mud might settle towards the bottom. The solution strength of a heterogeneous mixture can vary while a homogeneous mixture remains constant).A homogeneous mixture can be separated into its constituent components by physical means. For example, you can evaporate off the water off a sugar-water mixture, or you can filter a mixture of water and sand.A compound, however, requires some kind of chemical reaction to separate it into its constituent elements.

Is alcohol an element compound homogeneous mixture or heterogeneous mixture?

Alcohol is a compoundA compound; regular drinking alcohol has formula C2H5OH, other alcohols have similar formulas. Of course, if you mixed more than one type of alcohol together, it would be a mixture.

How does homogeneous mixture's differ from heterogeneous mixture's?

hetero means that the parts of the mixture are different in some way from each other, as where homo means that the parts of the mixture are the same or very similar.

Are Homogeneous mixture particles spread evenly?

no

What is an evenly distributed uniform misture called?

This type of mixture is known as a homogeneous mixture. On the other hand, a mixture in which the particles are not distributed evenly is a heterogeneous mixture.

How are homogeneous mixture and heterogeneous mixture similar?

one way to tell the difference between homogeneous and heterogeneous is that homogeneous is clear and heterogeneous isn't. by alison the 7th grader

What is a mixture that is mixed evenly and appears similar throughout?

homogeneous

Is solution of sodium hydroxide a mixture?

yes, it is a homogeneous mixture. i had a lab packet for chemistry due the other day and we went over it and this was a very similar question. it showed 4 pictures and we had to pick the homogeneous mixture in the previous illustrations.

How are a solution and a substance similar and how are they different?

A substance is matter that is uniform in composition. A substance can be an element or compound. A solution is another name for a homogeneous mixture. It is also uniform in composition, but a solution is made by physically combining two or more substances.

Is sea water a homogeneous or heterogeneous mixture?

Sea water is a homogeneous mixture because only one phase can be seen when you look at it (similar to homogenized milk).

How can you prove the clear substance of water and baking soda is a solution and not a compound?

Because a solution is similar to a homogeneous mixture which means that it is so evenly mixed that you cant see the different parts
