UHMW stands for Ultra High Molecular Weight. Now it depends what the monomer is. UHMWPE would be thermoplastic not thermoset. But other UHMW polymers can be thermoset. It depends.
Will grease harm uhmw poly?
If a grit substance such as sand adheres to grease on a UHMW then it will be scratched and worn. Better to let it stay dry unless you are dealing with a limited event like using UHMW pads to launch a large vessel. We use a lot of UHMW in our program and always leave it dry.
Does delrin or UHMW float on water?
UHMW floats because it has a lower density than water. Check the density of Delrin.

I find Loctite's super glue Activator works well: holds a patch of polyethelene sheet strongly on a sheet that had a hole (in a rink liner). The bond is strong enough to tear the underlying sheet when pulled hard, rather than peel off as other adhesives do on polyethelene (such as epoxy or super glue or silicon). Hot glue also works--but it's problematic on a thin sheet: too much heat and you make a new hole.
