Boron is an element and is neither an anion or cation. If ionized it would tend to from B3+ and would be thus a cation.

Iron sulfide is ionic because iron is a metal, and sulfur is a non-metal. A compound can only be covalent if both elements/atoms are non-metal. Rememeber that covalent means sharing and ionic means transferring!
