Bromine is very effective. We have used it in our inground pool since we installed the pool in 1982. The bromine is place in a brominator which is hooked up to the filter. Bromine is much gentler on bathing suits and does not give off a real strong smell like chlorine.

How do you lower high bromine levels in a pool?

To lower high bromine levels in a pool, you can dilute the water by adding fresh water. Running the pool pump and filter system for an extended period can also help remove excess bromine. Additionally, using a bromine neutralizer or shock treatment specifically designed for lowering bromine levels can be effective.

What is bromine in a pool?

Bromine is a chemical used to disinfect pool water, similar to chlorine. It is often used as an alternative to chlorine because it is more stable at higher temperatures and a wider pH range. Bromine is effective at killing bacteria and algae in pool water.

Does bromine clean water?

Bromine can be used to disinfect water by killing bacteria, viruses, and algae. It is an effective alternative to chlorine for water treatment but must be used at the correct concentrations to be effective. It is commonly used in hot tubs and pools as a disinfectant.

What causes low bromine in pool?

Low bromine levels in a pool can be caused by factors such as sunlight exposure, high water temperature, heavy pool usage, or imbalanced pH levels. It is important to regularly test and adjust the bromine levels in the pool to ensure that it remains effective in sanitizing the water.

Why is bromine more selective than chlorine?

Bromine is more selective than chlorine because bromine reacts more readily with organic compounds, making it more effective at targeting specific types of organic molecules. This selectivity is due to bromine's larger atomic size compared to chlorine, which allows it to form stronger and more specific bonds with certain organic compounds.

Would bromine be an effective disinfectant and bleaching agent?

Yes, bromine can be an effective disinfectant in water treatment, swimming pools, and hot tubs due to its ability to kill bacteria and algae. It is also used as a bleaching agent, especially in the production of paper and textiles. However, its effectiveness can depend on the specific application and concentration used.

Is bromine in bleaching agent?

Yes, bromine can be found in some bleaching agents. It is commonly used as a bleaching agent for flour and other food products to improve their color and appearance. Bromine can react with organic compounds to break down pigments and remove stains, making it effective for bleaching purposes.

Is bromine used in hot tubs?

If there are high levels of either chlorine or bromine in a hot tub, then these chemicals can be irritating to the skin. Absorbing high levels of bromine can also lead to iodine deficiencies in the body. Chlorine is typically safer.

Is bromine the same as baquacil?

No, bromine is not the same as baquacil. Bromine is a chlorine alternative, probably more expensive, effective as a sanitizer. Can result in odors as with chlorine and there are arguements about its safety, health wise. No, Baquacil is Hydrogen Peroxide.
