"Biohazardous" might be a bit extreme since it depends on just how much intake. Carbonic acid is the stuff in sodas and soft drinks, and isn't exactly the healthiest thing in the world. It removes calcium, with is important for cellular activities, especially involving the cytoskeleton and ionic gradients.

Calcium is also involved in muscular movement, including heart muscle, so if something happens to that...well then yes, it can be fatal.

It also helps collect synaptic chemicals from the intersynaptic region between two neurons. Too much synaptic chemicals might destroy parts of neurons. Might be a correlation with some types of brains' chemical configuration and cravings for sodas, but I don't know.
