When methane is in the gaseous state, you're physically able to breathe it, but
it would be very dangerous for you to do so. Methane can't sustain your life as
oxygen does, and in fact is poisonous.
Nitrogen oxide is not necessarily worse than carbon dioxide for the environment. Both gases are significant contributors to air pollution and have adverse effects on air quality and human health. However, carbon dioxide is a major greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming and climate change, while nitrogen oxide contributes to the formation of smog and acid rain.
While carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas might be harmful in the long run, carbon monoxide is a harmful pollutant that can cause serious injury. It blocks oxygen from reaching the blood, and can be fatal in high concentrations. It is notably the main pollutant in automobile exhaust gases.
Mercaptan - smells like hydrogen sulphide (rotten eggs) only worse.
SO2 pollutes because it is oxidized to SO3 that combines with water in the atmosphere to produce H2SO4 (sulphuric acid) which is one of the two acids responsible of the acid rain (the oxidant agent is O2 and the initializer is a hydroxyl radical HO·). methane, CH4, is also oxidized in the atmosphere (the oxidant is also O2 and the initializer is also a hydroxyl radical HO·). After several years (up to 10) it is converted in CO2 (a greenhouse gas) and, even worse, during the oxidation process it produces different contaminants as ozone (O3), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) that give rise to the so-called photochemical smog (which is not the same as the nowadays disappeared London smog).
Hydrogen is highly flammable and will not extinguish a fire. In fact, it can make fires worse if ignited. Water, carbon dioxide, or other appropriate fire extinguishing agents should be used to put out a fire.
Methane is roughly 25 times more potent as a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide over a 100-year period. This means that, molecule for molecule, methane has a significantly higher global warming potential than carbon dioxide.
It means the effect of something on the environment eg the farming of cattle causes methane to be released into the atmosphere (from both ends of the cow) which is very bad for the atmosphere. Methane is 60 times worse than carbon dioxide as an agent of global warming. So damage to the atmosphere is the impact on the environment of cattle farming.
Don't use candles; the energy-generation process used to power light bulbs is more efficient, especially if you use the newer type.Turn your compost regularly; this prevents the buildup of methane as opposed to carbon dioxide. Methane is a worse "greenhouse gas".

Methane is a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming by trapping heat in the Earth's atmosphere. It is more potent than carbon dioxide in terms of its warming impact, although it is present in smaller quantities. Methane is released into the atmosphere through natural processes like wetland decomposition as well as human activities such as livestock farming, landfills, and fossil fuel extraction.
Flying is much worse for the environment than smoking. Planes burn fossil fuel which releases carbon dioxide that has been hidden away for millions of years. This is what is causing global warming.Smoking releases carbon dioxide too, but it is carbon dioxide that was taken out of the atmosphere a few months ago when the tobacco was growing, so it is part of the earth's carbon cycle, and is not contributing to global warming.
Rather than let the methane released by decomposition go into the atmosphere where it is a worse greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, we burn it and get energy from waste materials. Since we keep making waste, it is almost renewable energy.
NO! if anything its makes global warming worse.

Plankton takes in carbon dioxide from the sea and stores it in its body. When plankton dies, it still has the carbon dioxide inside it, so has removed some of the problem from the ocean (problem for us). Without plankton, there'd be a lot more carbon dioxide and global warming would be worse.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a greenhouse gas which is causing Global Warming. When there is a great amount of it in the atmosphere, then it absorbs a great amount of heat. This makes Global Warming worse.
Cattle and other ruminants produce much more methane in their intestinal gases than humans as the intestinal bacteria digest cellulose. (Most of the gas comes out of the cow's mouth!) Methane is a greenhouse gas and bad for the environment.
