Potassium carbonate is a compound. It consists of the elements potassium, carbon, and oxygen. The balanced chemical formula is: 2KOH + CO2 → K2CO3 + H2O which is a result of the addition of carbon dioxide to potassium hydroxide. The potassium hydroxide in this equation comes from the electrolysis of potassium chloride. Potassium carbonate is a compound. It consists of the elements potassium, carbon, and oxygen. Definitely a compound.

By the fact that it contains two names then it contains at least two elements/atoms. Any substance that contains more than one element is a compound.

Potassium carbonate has three elements . They are potassium(Kalium (K)), carbon and oxygen.

The formula is 'K2CO3'.

This tells us that one molecule of potassium carbonate contains two atoms of potassium , one atom of carbon and three atoms of oxygen.
