Water does boil at 100 celsius. However evaporation occurs at any temperature. so for boiling to occur a specific temperature is required which it is called the boiling point of that substance whereas evaporation occurs at any temperature Water only boils at the temperature of 100 degrees Celsius at standard atmospheric pressure. So up a mountain, where the air pressure is reduced, water boils at a lower temperature. Water boils at sea level at 100 degrees Celsius

No. Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius at sea level. At higher elevations, water may boil at lower temperatures. The reason for this is easier to understand if you change the way you think about what happens when a liquid "boils". When you boil water, you are basically just encouraging it to transition from a liquid to a gas. For it to become a gas, it has to enter a pressurized environment - the atmosphere. If the air around the surface of the water is at a high pressure, then it will require more energy for the liquid to overcome that pressure and become a gas. If the air around the surface of the water is at a low pressure, then boiling is easier and requires less energy (i.e. less heat).

No. This figure is taken for the boiling of water at sea level. If you go to higher altitudes, then the pressure is reduced and water will boil at a lower temperature as the amount of energy given to the water molecules by heating needs to be less for the water molecules to escape their bonds of attraction between each other.

Conversely, the opposite can also happen. At a lower level than sea level, the pressure is greater therefore it requires a greater temperature to boil it. This is why, geysers expel super hot water under a great pressure at the surface of the earth.

Yes, if you are on a mountain where we got less air pressure than usual.

Yes, pure water boils at 100 degrees Celsius. That is the boiling point of water.
