Water evaporating is probably one the most critical things that occurs in nature in order for us and other life form to exist. It is of course a physical change, because the water molecule that has evaporated still has the potential to turn back into water and keep it's previous qualities of a water drop. A chemical change is where water is mixed with another liquid and it's molecular structure changes, even in liquid form. Water becomes a gas because the water drop has billions of molecules in it's chain, that are held together by electrical forces. These molecules are constantly vibrating at terrific speeds, the hotter the temperature, the faster the molecules vibrate. So when the water becomes too hot, the molecules vibrate so extensively that they overcome their bonds and fly apart. This is why when water boils, the oxygen and HO molecules that have overcome their bonds rapidly rise to the surface and make the water uneven when it boils.

This is a physical change. The bubbles are pockets of steam which is the same chemical as water, just in a different state.

How are chemical changes different from physical?

So, physical can be changed back to the original state... Chemical cannot (unless you use another chemical change) So, melting freezing vaporizing and condensation are physical changes. Chemical is like burning something, or adding a reactive compound/ solution and there being a color change, vapor or smell. There is a bit more to it, but that's the basics.
