Acids are sour to taste and bases are bitter. I just wanted to know if there is a base present in bitter gourd. Please let me know
the chemical substances present in bitter gourd are polar
I think it is a base because it is bitter and the inside of it is soapy just as how its characteristic is of bases
One can find a lot of proven and UNproven uses of Ampalaya (Bitter melon, Momordica charantia, called bitter melon or bitter gourd), but never heard of the use as a pH color indicator.(Its fruit color is yellow, when ripening it turns to orange).
it is a base because it tastes bitter. now if it was an acid it would taste sour and not bitter like a base.

Acids taste sour; bases normally taste bitter.
All bases (alkaline compounds) are bitter in taste.
