A physical change is a term that contrasts a chemical change. A physical change is any change that does not alter the chemical identity of a substance.
Usually an object that was physically changed can be reverted back to its original state (i.e. water and ice), while a chemical change cannot (i.e. paper burning).

∙ 11y agoSimply, if something has physically changed it is still the same just with a new shape or color. A folded newspaper is an example of a physical change, but a burning newspaper would be a chemical change.
