Liquids and gases are both states of matter. Any change in state of matter is a physical change, whether it be boiling, freezing, melting, or condensing. Steam is water is the gaseous state and ice is water in the solid state. They have differnet forms, but the chemical makeup remains the same.

Is cooking caramelized sugar a physical or chemical change?

Yes, as well as a chemical change. It clearly changes (white, granulated sugar and liquid to burned brown sugar and liquid to a sticky [and delicious] substance). It changes from a solution to a syrup!

Are bateries chemical changes?

Yes. Chemical changes are changes in what things are made of, physical changes are changes of physical localization or state of matter ( liquid, solid, or gas)

Is changing from a gas to a liquid a chemical change?

No, changes of state such as this are physical changes.

Is evaporation of liquid alchol a physical or chemical process?

The basic answer is physical.

Is dissolving a drink mix in water a physical or chemical change?

chemical

Are state changes physical or chemical changes?

A change of state: Solid <-> Liquid <-> Gas A change of state is a physical change.

Classify as chemical and physical change-freezing of water?

Physical. changes of state (solid, liquid, gas) are physical changes.

When gold changes from a solid to a liquid is that a physical or chemical change?

It is a physical change (melting).

If water is boiling is it a chemical change or a physical change?

It is a physical change. All phase changes are physical, not chemical. The chemical composition of water does not change when it changes from a liquid to a gas, or for that matter, to a solid.

Is it physical or chemical change a candle wax falls on the ground and cools?

Cooling, and changing from a liquid to a solid are physical changes, not chemical changes. The chemical composition of the paraffin does not change.

Is sugar burning in a pan chemical or physical change?

Burning Sugar is a chemical change. Burning or oxidization is always a chemical change. The process takes in Oxygen and Sugar and outputs different compounds including water, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and other carbon residue. Explanation 2: Chemical changes are changes in what things are made out of. Physical changes are like ice melting ice and liquid water are still water one is a solid but the other is liquid. steam is a gas but is still water. these changes do not change what water is.

What process changes to a liquid to a solid?

These are changes of phase and physical phenomenons: - solid to liquid: melting - gas to liquid: liquefaction (or condensation)
