pour the mixture through a filter that will let the smaller substance through, but not the larger one.
Phosphorous is a highly flamable element. When it is introduced with oxygen, it combusts. The larger the amount of phosphorous, the higher the risk of it catching on fire. Although, this is in fact that is a pure substance of phosphorous...
A solution is a mixture of two or more substances in a single phase. At least two substances must be mixed in order to have a solution. The substance in the smallest amount and the one that dissolves or disperses is called the SOLUTE. The substance in the larger amount is called the SOLVENT. In most common instances water is the solvent. The gases, liquids, or solids dissolved in water are the solutes.A heterogeneous mixture consists of visibly different substances or phases. The three phases or states of matter are gas, liquid, and solid.Daniel Ong's Edit: Please not that although I do not know what the difference between a solution and a heterogeneous mixture is, the answer above is not entirely accurate. A solution can be a mix of two different states.Anyways... This is what I believe to be the differene between a solution and a heterogeneous mixture. To quote wikipedia "A solution is when a homogeneous mixture of one or more substances (the solutes) dissolved in another substance (the solvent)." Albeit simple, this is accurate.Another quote from wikipedia... "Heterogeneous mixtures are mixtures with inconsistent, non-uniform composition."Added Info:A Mixture can be separated by Mechanical means, such as a filter, strainer, etc. A Solution can only be separated by Chemical means.A solution is a homogeneous mixture.
Sugars.
Type your answerto chemicals here... add water to chemicalsAnswer:When in doubt add chemicals to water. It's particularly important to add acid to water. Adding a smaller amount of a neutral substance to a more concentrated amount of a reactive substance is more likely to create a violent reaction than the other way 'round. The larger volume of neutral substance is more likely to quell/subdue/dilute the reaction as the reactive substance is added to it.
A mixture is made up of the solvent and the solute. In an unsaturated mixture the solvent is in greater amount.
In a solution the components that dissolve other components(usually components present in larger amount) are called solvent. The components of the solution which gets dissolved in in the solvent (usually present in lesser amount) is called solute.
The solute is the substance that is present in a lesser amount in a liquid-liquid mixture. It is the substance that is dissolved in the solvent. The solvent is the substance that is present in a larger amount and is responsible for dissolving the solute.

Solvent
homogeneous mixture of two or more components is called as solution.Components of solution are solvent and solute. In which solvent is present in large amount and solute is in small amount.generally solute is considered as impurities for solvent.eg.sugary solution-sugar is solute and water is solvent.
pour the mixture through a filter that will let the smaller substance through, but not the larger one.
This is false. The farther into the future any given amount is received the smaller its present value.
It is not true that a person who has developed a tolerance to a substance needs less of that substance. Having a tolerance means that they need more of that substance to satisfy their cravings.

Depends on the quantity...maybe you are think of parts per million?
