Electronegativity. It is a measure of an atom's ability to attract a shared pair of electrons towards itself in a covalent bond.
A covalent bond! When the electrons are shared unequally due to a difference in electronegativity between the atoms being bonded it is called a polar covalent bond
In a covalent compound some electrons are shared between at least two atomic nuclei.
In a nonpolar covalent bond, the shared electrons are shared congruently throughout the molecule. This occurs when two atoms have similar electronegativities and therefore share the electrons equally.
