We call the scientific study of sound acoustics in physics. Actually, the study of sound is spread across several disciplines. That's because sound travels through about any mechanical medium, and certainly through any fluid - like air and water. So we have to pull together to study sound. Oceanographers get in on the action along with all kinds of engineers and medical professionals who use sound to "look inside" stuff. Sound includes those frequencies below and above what we can hear, just so you know. Wikipedia has more information, and a link is provided.
Acoustics: science of production, control, transmission, reception & effects of sound
Otology: study of the ear structure
Audiology: study of hearing
Psychoacoustics: study of the ear structure and the way sound is received, transmitted and interpreted by the brain.
The study of the ear is called audiology and the study of sound is called acoustics. The study of how we perceive sound is called psychoacoustics.

Acoustics.
People's perceptions of sound intensity is known as loudness.
Dissonant harmonies.
A physical property of matter that can be produced by vibrations is called sound. Sound propagates through a medium such as air or water.
Any sound waves that happen to be propagating through the water will bounceoff of any objects that are there. No device is required to make that happen.A system that intentionally generates sound waves underwater, and then receivesand analyzes those that return after bouncing off of something in the water, is aSONAR system.
It makes a dull sound, while a metal makes a ringing noise like a gong!
Sound is vibrations that are transmitted through the air in waves. Loud noises can leave people stressed and irritable, however calm soothing noises can relax people and make them happy.
Acoustics is defined as the science that deals with the production, control, transmission, reception, and effects of sound
someone who studies sound and it's properties is a Audiologist

Hi, you can visit my YouTube channel for free sound effects @FreeAudioSamples which I usually record by myself. All of them are copyright free. 🙂
Phonosemantics is the study of the sound of words, particularly how the sounds of words convey meaning or emotion. This discipline investigates the relationship between phonetic elements and their associated semantic or psychological effects.

The Academy Award (Oscar) for Best Sound Effects was renamed Best Sound Effects Editing and is currently called Best Sound Editing. Four men share the record for most awards in this category. They have each have three Oscars:Ben Burtt,Charles L. CampbellRichard HymnsGary Rydstrom
Words that sound like gibberish to lay people typically.
Acoustics in general, Audiology in the case of people.
