i dont know but i think it flue
Almost certainly, because it's blocked. This could be as a result of masonry becoming dislodged from between the bricks, because a bird has built a nest up there, because a storm has blown debris into the chimney, or a number of other reasons. My advice is to get it swept and cleared, as a blocked chimney can be dangerous and catch fire- but check that any nesting birds will not be harmed in the process!!
Smoke coming from a chimney usually indicates that there is a fire burning inside, such as in a fireplace or heating stove. If there is excessive smoke or the smoke is a different color than usual, it could indicate a problem with the fire or chimney, like poor ventilation or a blockage. It's important to investigate and address the issue promptly to prevent potential hazards.
Chimney use to remove the flue gases and smoke from the building and from the boiler, furnace, fireplace, stove to outside atmosphere. Chimney construct as much as possible in the vertical shape to remove the smoke outside easily. Romans used hole in the bakeries to remove the smoke outside but real chimney found in Northern Europe in 12th century.
If a fireplace is only being used once a week or for only a few hours at a time, it is necessary to only have a cleaning once evey two to three years. However, if there is soot coming down when opening and closing the damper, this is a good determining factor that the fireplace/chimney is in need of cleaning.
It was wood & thatch with a brick chimney.
There was smoke coming from the chimney.
The chimney thingy is called a smoke stack.
needs to be cleaned
Smoke. A chimney releases smoke just as a tree provides shade.

shouldn't your question be," A passage for smoke in a chimney"? just saying
Smoke moves in the chimney due to the difference in temperature and pressure between the inside and outside of the chimney. As hot air rises, it creates a draft that draws the smoke up and out of the chimney. The design of the chimney, including its height and width, can also impact how efficiently the smoke is expelled.
Open the flue wider - need to create a vacuum draft that sucks the smoke up the chimney and outdoors.
your too young to smoke
On top of Petey's Pub, where smoke is coming out. You just have to reduce it for a few seconds.
