Hydrogen Chloride

Hydrogen gas is produced when an acid reacts with a metal. This is because the acid reacts with the metal to form a salt and hydrogen gas.
When sulphuric acid is added to zinc granules , the gas produced is hydrogen gas. Zinc displaces hydrogen from sulphuric acid.
When metals are put in hydrochloric acid, hydrogen gas is produced as the metal reacts with the acid to form metal chloride and hydrogen gas as a byproduct.
