Sieving is an adequate method.
A tool that is used to separate heterogeneous mixtures like sand dirt and water is a simple filter. The other process that can be used to separate heterogeneous mixtures is decanting, or allowing the mixture to settle and pouring off the top layer.
1. Pour the mixture through a funnel of filter paper. The sand will not flow through. Leave the funnel with the sand in it out to evaporate the rest of the water.
2. Boil the mixture because the boiling point of water is much lower than that of sand. When all the water boils off, leave out to cool.
A centrifuge. a filter. a sieve. a magnet, heat, gravity to name but a few.

Place the mixture in water and separate the sand from the water if you want the salt. alow the water to evaporate, and you have salt and sand separated.
to separate the mixture of sand and sugar:- first: you can mix water in it and after mixing you can separate the water and sand. and after that you boil the water until whole water is evaporated and you get sugar and sand separated. second: if difference b/w size of sugar and sand particle you can use met to separate them.
Since salt is soluble in water then you have to separate the mixture from sand first and this is done by filtration. The sand will be left in the filter paper and the filtererd solution would be that of salt and water. To get the salt you would then have to heat the solution and the water will evaporate leaving the salt behind.Filter Paper
First heat the mixture; the iodine will sublime and turn to a vapor which can be collected. Then add water to the remaining salt/sand mixture; the salt will dissolve but the sand will not. Finally, evaporate the water to obtain the solid salt.

Not sure what is meant by mixtures? But, the sand and water can be heated to evaporate off the water, which can be condensed back into water. This will leave the sand behind.
Settle it and pour off the water, or simply filter the sand out of the water.

Put the mixture in water and wait for all of the salt to dissolve. Then filter out the sand and wait for the water to evaporate in the sand/water solution to get the sand and salt separately.
Anything containing two separate entities is a mixture. Sand and water is a heterogeneous mixture because it is not the same throughout.
Filter the mixture -- sand will not pass thru. Evaporate the water --- sugar will remain.
Filter the sand out, and then evaporate the water, salt is left as dried.
