The average acid rain fall is not very acidic. Acid rain really erodes carbonate rocks, impairs the ionic structure of soil, dissolves minerals from rocks and impairsthe egg viability of fish and ampbibians. The average acid rain pH is about 4.2 to 4.8, somewhat more acidic than bananas and less acidic than orange juice. Normal (clean) rain has a pH of more than 4about 5.6 because of atmospheric CO2 dissolved in it.
