In chemistry, a mixture is when two or more different substances are mixed together but not combined chemically. The molecules of two or more different substances are mixed in the from of solutions, suspensions, and colloids.

While there are no physical changes in a mixture, the chemical properties of a mixture, such as its melting point may differ from those of its components. Mixtures can usually be separated into its original components by mechanical means. Mixtures are either homogeneous or heterogeneous.

Mixtures are the product of a blending or a mixing of chemical substances such as elements or compounds without chemical bonding or other chemical change, so that each ingredient substance retains its own chemical properties and makeup.

It is made up of two different substances but are not chemically combined. Therefore, the characteristics depend on the mixture itself.

There are three forms of mixtures: the solution, wherein detection of one substance is impossible for the naked eye due to dissolving, the suspension, wherein substances are easily identified due to the substance being large in molecule, immobile or semi-immobile, and the colloids, wherein the substance is not completely dissolved and not completely suspended.

Do components in mixtures maintain their own characteristics?

It is true that components in mixtures maintain their own characteristics. The two types of mixtures are homogeneous mixture and heterogeneous mixture.

What is similar between homogeneous and heterogeneous?

both mixtures need atleast 2 components and at least one of the components has to be a liquid there are many other reasons

What are three different ways that compounds and mixtures differ?

Mixtures have widely variable contents, whereas compounds have fixed contents. In mixtures, each component retains its characteristics, but compounds may act wildly different from their component parts. Attempting to break down compounds requires vast amounts of energy, yet mixtures can be separated rather simply.

What are the characteristics of homogeneous mixtures?

Has the same composition and has one phase. for some people The correct answers are: Consistent composition, and Smooth

What are some characteristics of mixtures?
