A) advantages: you see all the molecules added in the reaction mixtures, can calculate stoichiometry, useful in equillibrium constant, enthalpy, etc. calculations

disadvantages: it can get complicated to balance (i.e. redox reactions)

B) advantages: you can see all ions participating and spectator ions, easier to balance

disadvantages: not all ions participate ion reactions, so they just make things look complicated

C) advantages: only reacting species, so it has all the information needed about the reaction itself in the simplest way

disadvantages: can't really calculate all those mentioned in point A

Nothing, you must realize that almost everything is an equation.

What to eat today? x = what to eat

That's a bad example, but you see my point.

Equations are simply a line with an equal sign.

3x + 5 = y etc. In solving any problem with an unknown using known, we must establish a relationship, and we NEED equations (or inequalities)

Unlike solutions, mixtures, and alloys, and like tattoos, most chemical reactions are not easily reversed. Unpredictable and uncontrolled results, such as some violently exothermic reactions, can be dangerous. Products can be hazardous to human health. Chemical reactions can produce bombs but can also give us medicines.

They usually don't show the conditions (i.e. pressure, temperature) at which said reactions occur or whether they can occur. A lot of textbooks will have the student balance chemical equations as an academic exercise without considering whether such a reaction can (is likely) to occur.

For example:

2H2 + O2 -> 2H2O, but it takes combustion via spark/flame to actually initiate the reaction.

P.S. Sometimes the conditions are indicated over the reaction arrow.
