Most atoms are broken down into three parts. The atom consists of an electron, proton, and a neutron. The type of atom molecule determines how many of the protons, neutrons, and electrons are present.

I'm guessing that the question is asking what the specific parts of an Atom are.

Simply, an atom is composed of protons (positively charged) neutrons (with no charge) and elections (negatively charged). The protons and neutrons form the nucleus. The electrons are on an outer 'ring'. The reason it stays together is because opposites literally attract. Think of a magnet. If the sides were labeled let's say P and N. If you stuck P and the other P together, they'd repel. If it was a P and N, then they'd attract. It's the same way in an atom. The neutrons have no charge, and therefore stick together with the Protons and Neutrons (+ and -)
