Guess what. I can't see that darn PT Key.

I'll guess. There are 4 sublevels in an atoms electron structure, s,p,d, and f.

Maybe your key applies to that. If some color is in the 1st columns on the left (with the exception of He) that represents the s dublevel. If the last 6 columns on the right are a different that represents the p sublevel. In the middle of the table are 10 columns, alsoreferred to as transition metals, these represent the d sublevels. And at the bottom are 2 rows containing 14 columns (also called the inner transition metals) representing the f sublevels.

What do the numbers on mendeleev's periodic table represent?

The numbers on Mendeleev's periodic table represent the atomic number of each element, which is the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom. This number determines the element's identity and its placement in the periodic table.

What are rows called in Periodic rable?

Rows in the periodic table are called periods. There are seven periods in the periodic table which represent the energy levels of the elements. Each period signifies the number of electron shells an element has.

How many periods are there in a Modern Periodic Table?

The Periodic Table has 7 periods (horizontal rows) and 18 groups. The two groups of 14 elements at the bottom (lanthanides and actinides) are parts of the 6th and 7th periods, between groups 2 and 3, but are placed below to limit the displayed width of the table.

What do the horizontal rows on the periodic table represent?

Whereas the vertical columns on the periodic table are called "groups", and represent the number of electrons in an element's outermost electron shell (eg. group 2 elements have twoelectrons in their farthest energy level), the horizontal rows, known as "periods", refer to the number of energy shells surrounding the nucleus of an element.

What do you call elements in a row on the periodic table?

Elements in a row on the periodic table are called periods. They represent the number of electron shells an element's atoms have. Each period corresponds to the energy level of the electrons in an element's atoms.
