'J' is 'Joules' of energy, be it mechanical, heat, electric etc.,

Named after James Joule a Staffordshire, England , chemist.

The basic S.I. units of the J (Joule) are 'kg*m^(2)s^(-2), somtimes written as kg(m/s)^(2)

kJ (kilo Joules)= thousands of Joules ( of energy). e.g. 1000 J = 1 kJ
