it forms a non ideal solution having negative deviation..

Pure acetic acid has intermolecular attraction, by adding methanol it increases the intermolecular attraction forces in solution. Which decreases the vapour pressure of solution so (P total < Pacetic acid + Pmethanol).. More over attractive force increase so it decreases the enthalpy of solution i.e. its an exothermic mixing (enthalpy change on mixing < 0).. Since attraction increases, the Total volume also decreases i.e. 10 ml + 5 ml = 14.90ml (volume change on mixign < 0)

What is the product formed when methanol react with acetic acid?

The product formed when methanol reacts with acetic acid is methyl acetate. This reaction is also known as Fischer esterification, and it involves the condensation of methanol and acetic acid in the presence of an acid catalyst to form the ester product.

Is vinegar a compound or a mixture?

Vinegar is a dilute mixture of acetic acid and water.

What is structural formula of methanol and acetic acid?

C3H6O2 or CH3COOCH3

What are the primary sources of acetic acid and how are they obtained?

The primary sources of acetic acid are ethanol and methanol. Ethanol is typically obtained from fermentation of sugars in fruits or grains, while methanol is usually produced from natural gas or biomass. Acetic acid is then produced through a chemical process called oxidation of ethanol or methanol.

How you can separate acetic acid from zinc methoxide?

You can separate acetic acid from zinc methoxide by adding water, which will hydrolyze zinc methoxide to form zinc hydroxide and methanol. Acetic acid is not affected by this reaction and will remain in the solution. The zinc hydroxide can then be filtered out, leaving behind the acetic acid solution.

Does methanol react with acetic acid?
