Fluorine has a strong pungent smell.Fluorine is is poisonous gas and pure form in air can last transiently and react instantly with most substances. It react with water forms hydroflouric acid, which again is poisonous and highly corrosive eroding skin,eyes,nasal pathway.When fluorine fume is inhaled this will be formed in the body surface causing potential damages.So smelling fluorine even at lower amount is dangerous...
