Isolelectronic: 1. noting or pertaining to atoms and ions having an equal number of electrons. 2. noting or pertaining to atoms, radicals, or ions having either an equal number of electrons or an equal number of valence electrons. For example- Na+, Al3+, Fe-,O2- and N3- are all isoelectronic with Ne because they have the same number of electrons. I hope this helps :) Good luck.

From Wikipedia: "Two or more molecular entities (atoms, molecules, ions) are described as being isoelectronic[1] with each other if they have the same number of valence electrons and the same structure (number and connectivity of atoms), regardless of the nature of the elements involved." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isoelectronic
