A gas cannot melt. There are three main stages to any element; freezing, melting and boiling. Boiling, or turning into gas/steam is the final stage for any element. Think of water. When it freezes it turns to ice, when it melts it is water and when it boils it turns to steam or water vapour.

Is it true or false that when solid melts it turns into gas?

both. It depends what substance it is. For example: solid water (ice) melts into liquid water (water) and then that melts into gas water (water vapour). Another example is that frozen carbon dioxide (c02)which is a solid also known as dry ice, melts into c02 gas hence the name dry ice because when it melts it goes straight into a gas state.

When a solid melts does it change into a gas?

No, when a solid melts, it changes into a liquid, not a gas. Melting is the process by which a substance transitions from a solid to a liquid state due to an increase in temperature. The transition from a liquid to a gas is called vaporization.

When does phase changes occur?

When a solid melts or changes to a liquid. When a liquid boils or changes to a gas. or the reverse when a gas condenses to a liquid or a liquid freezes to a solid. Also it is possible for a solid to go directly to a gas without passing through the liquid stage. This is called sublimation and can occur with sulfur when heated, or ice in the winter when the sun shines on it..

What happens to gallium when it melts?

Gallium is a metal that is solid at room temperature but melts at a low temperature of 85.57°F (29.76°C). When gallium melts, it becomes a liquid with a silvery appearance. It has a unique property where it can remain in a liquid state over a wide temperature range.

What happens to a candle when it melts?

When a candle melts, the heat from the flame causes the wax to melt into a liquid state. This liquid wax is then drawn up the wick via capillary action and vaporizes, creating a fuel for the flame to continue burning.
