Sulphur Dioxide is a a by-product of (mainly) powerstations that burn fossil fuels to produce the steam ofr the turbines. Sulphur Dioxide combines with water in the atmosphere to produce Sulphuric acid - which falls as 'acid rain. The chemical process is... SO2 + OH → HOSO2 - which is followed by... HOSO2 + O2 → HO2 + SO3 In the presence of water, sulphur trioxide (SO3) is converted rapidly to sulphuric acid... SO3 + H2O → H2SO4
In the case of sulfur dioxide: SO2 (g) + H2O ⇌ SO2·H2O (SO2 dissolves into water droplets) SO2·H2O ⇌ H+ + HSO3− HSO3− ⇌ H+ + SO32− In the case of NO2 + OH· → HNO3 (nitric acid - which then dissolves into the rain) The OH· comes from other reactions occurring in the gas phase.
reducing the sulphur content in fuels will effectivily reduce the amount of sulphur realised into the atmosphere. In the gas phase sulphur dioxide is oxidised by reaction with the hydroxyl radical via an intermolecular reaction: SO2 + OH· → HOSO2· which is followed by: HOSO2· + O2 → HO2· + SO3 In the presence of water, sulphur trioxide (SO3) is converted rapidly to sulphuric acid: SO3(g) + H2O(l) → H2SO4(l) the lower the sulphur released into the atmosphere the lower the amount of sulphuric acid is formed

Acid rian is due prmarily to the interaction of SO2 and NO2 with moisture in the air. The gas phase sulfur dioxide is oxidized by reaction with the hydroxyl radical via an intermolecular reaction. SO2 + OH· → HOSO2· which is followed by: HOSO2· + O2 → HO2· + SO3 In the presence of water, sulfur trioxide (SO3) is converted rapidly to sulfuric acid: SO3 (g) + H2O (l) → H2SO4 (l) Nitrogen dioxide reacts with OH to form nitric acid: NO2 + OH· → HNO3

First if you get vinegar and put it in a bottle for 3 days it will turn into carbon dioxide.(d2) After the three days are over, pour water in it let it stay and dissolve in with the carbon d2. Then you get acid rain.If you cannot do that just get algea(or moss) and fertilizer and mix it with WARM water. Let it sit for a couple of hours. How much vinegar/water combination do you use?Is the bottle supposed to be sealed or not.NOT SOAcid rian is due prmarily to the interaction of SO2 and NO2 with moisture in the air, acetic acid has nothing to do with it,further more vinegar does not turn into CO2.the gas phase sulfur dioxide is oxidized by reaction with the hydroxyl radical via an intermolecular reaction [4]: SO2 + OH· → HOSO2·which is followed by: HOSO2· + O2 → HO2· + SO3In the presence of water, sulfur trioxide (SO3) is converted rapidly to sulfuric acid: SO3 (g) + H2O (l) → H2SO4 (l)Nitrogen dioxide reacts with OH to form nitric acid: NO2 + OH· → HNO3

Chemical WaterAcid rain is a result of chemicals or pollution in the air being taken to the clouds and atmosphere with the rain that is evaporated from the earth.it forms from the polution in the air... and other polutants on earth that get taken back into the sky
